Judge John Hlophe, who is the former Western Cape Judge President, has revealed that he will be leading the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) into parliament.
Hlophe made this announcement while speaking at the African Legal Professionals Association (ALPA) launch in Durban on June 22. He stated that he had visited former President Jacob Zuma in Nkandla and discussed the matter with him, as the MK party was not currently represented in parliament.
“I told him that we need to go to parliament, and I’m happy to announce that 58 MK members will be sworn in on Tuesday, and they will be led by me,” Hlophe said.
He added that his goal in returning to parliament is to serve black people. It is worth noting that MK members were previously removed from parliament by Speaker Thoko Didiza on June 14, after they disrupted proceedings.
