Durban – The Empangeni man who allegedly killed a woman and asked her friend to clean the blood was denied bail in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court.

He remains in police custody and his case was adjourned to May 21 for further investigation said NPA spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara.

Adriaan Botha, 65, faces a charge of murder, two counts of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, pointing of a firearm, intimidation, and failure to safeguard a firearm in a prescribed manner.

Botha is alleged to have taken two women home from a restaurant and shot one of them dead.

At the time KZN police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said that it was alleged that an argument ensued between them when they wanted to leave and the man allegedly took out a shotgun and fired shots at them.

“One woman was fatally shot and the other survived. The male allegedly wrapped the body and took the body into his vehicle, leaving the other victim to clean up,” said Mbele.

Mbele said the victim managed to escape and reported the incident to the police.
