The much-anticipated SALGA KZN DSAC Games are set to kick off today with KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Mr. Thamsanqa Ntuli, officially opening the tournament at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The ceremony will commence at 2:30 PM.
This provincial sporting competition brings together representatives from the 10 district municipalities of KwaZulu-Natal: Amajuba, Ilembe, King Cetshwayo, Ugu, uMgungundlovu, uMkhanyakude, uMzinyathi, uThukela, Zululand, and eThekwini.
A total of 14 diverse sporting codes will feature in the games, including netball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, boxing, chess, dance sports, athletics, and others.
Before the official opening, a vibrant parade by the districts is expected to take place, starting at Suncoast Beach and proceeding towards Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“Our role is to ensure that the games are conducted smoothly and efficiently. I can confidently say that the department and all sporting organizations are ready to host these 14 sporting codes. We’ve made arrangements for logistics, accommodation, and all other necessities to ensure the success of this event,” said the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Sport, Arts, and Culture, Mntomuhle Khawula.
The tournament will conclude with a grand closing ceremony on Sunday, December 8, at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.
This prestigious event aims to foster unity, promote talent development, and create a platform for athletes to showcase their skills while representing their respective districts.
