Durban is setting the stage for an unforgettable summer with its new tourism campaign, “Endless Waves of Tranquility“, unveiled today at the stunning Coastal Beach Resort, located on Umgababa Beach. With the holiday season fast approaching, eThekwini Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, emphasized the city’s potential as a premier holiday destination, highlighting its diverse tourism offerings and vast opportunities.
“Durban is open for business, and we are prepared to deliver safe and unforgettable summer holidays,” Xaba said. The campaign aims to promote not only the well-known tourist spots but also lesser-known attractions, from township and rural activities to parks, game reserves, and historical landmarks.
Xaba also underscored the city’s booming tourism sector, revealing projections of over 1.3 million visitors this summer. “The direct tourism spend is estimated at R2.5 million, contributing to a GDP impact of around R6.3 million, with over 11,000 jobs created as a result,” he stated, stressing how tourism is driving local job creation and economic growth.
During the launch event, various festive packages were introduced to tourists, while Durban Tourism’s management outlined the security measures in place to ensure a safe holiday experience for all.
