Search and Rescue teams have recovered the body of a male adult at the base of a cliff in Hillcrest not far from where Jamie-Lee Koen was last seen.
The discovery was made five hours into a search and rescue joint operation between START and RESCUETECH which commenced at 07h00 on Saturday morning.
The identity of the deceased and cause of death will form part of an ongoing investigation and can only be established once post mortem and DNA testing have been done.
The family of the missing Jamie-Lee Koen are aware of the operation as RESCUETECH was contacted by the family last night to assist in the ongoing search for their son who has also been missing for almost a week.
“A member of the search party made the find of a decomposing body and alerted the Joint Operations Control Centre (JOC) of his find,” read part of a statement by Riaan da Horta from Rescuetech Search and Rescue.
The scene was cordoned off and SAPS and Metro Search and Rescue hoisted the body.
The family were not available for comment and have asked for privacy during this time as they await the results of a forensic DNA test.
