The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have expressed their disappointment and disapproval of the appointment of Democratic Alliance (DA) leader, John Steenhuisen, as the Minister of Agriculture. EFF spokesperson, Leigh-Ann Mathys, stated that the party is concerned about Steenhuisen’s appointment, citing his past record in the Western Cape province.
“The DA leader will continue to prioritize the interests of white farmers, just like he did in the Western Cape. If we allow him to head this department, it will mean that the land of South Africans will never be returned to them,” Mathys said.
She emphasized that agriculture is crucial to the country’s economy and that the minister responsible must prioritize the livelihoods of all citizens.
