In a press briefing held earlier today, Chief KS Zondi of the Mpumuza Traditional Council addressed the media on the significance of the centennial commemoration of Chief Laduma. The event, marking 100 years since the revered leader’s era, took place today at the Chief’s Court in kwaMpumuza.
Reflecting on Chief Laduma’s impact, Chief Zondi shared his gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate his predecessor’s life and legacy, which spanned a 25-year reign. “It is essential for us to recognize Chief Laduma’s contribution to kwaMpumuza,” said Chief Zondi. “His leadership shaped our community, and his influence endures in our values and culture.”
Alongside the centennial celebration, Chief Zondi announced the launch of two pivotal service delivery documents. The first document focuses on the customary laws and bylaws governing kwaMpumuza, intended to guide the community in respecting traditional practices. The second document centers on economic development in the area, aiming to empower the local youth. “Our hope is to instill a sense of responsibility in the younger generation,” Chief Zondi explained. “These documents will educate them on proper conduct while offering them tools to actively contribute to our community’s economic growth.”
To further honor family legacy, Chief Zondi announced a gala dinner planned for this evening in tribute to his father, Chief Nsikayezwe Zondi, who has led the community for 45 years. “Tonight’s gathering will celebrate my father’s enduring dedication to our people,” said Zondi, highlighting the evening’s focus on unity, continuity, and respect for heritage.
The day’s events, honoring both past and present leaders, reflect kwaMpumuza’s deep-rooted pride in its traditions while looking toward a future of strengthened governance and prosperity.
