In a bid to address pressing issues affecting commuters, MEC Siboniso Duma has been locked in a marathon meeting with the leadership of the Durban Long Distance Taxi Association. Speaking at Durban’s Truro House on Victoria Embankment, Duma emphasized the power of collective wisdom in resolving challenges, reaffirming the department’s commitment to finding lasting solutions.
“As of 15h00, we have been engaged in a fruitful meeting with the leadership of the Durban Long Distance Taxi Association,” Duma stated. This engagement follows last Thursday’s successful gathering with chairpersons of all long-distance taxi associations at Pietermaritzburg City Hall, signaling the department’s proactive approach to tackling commuter disruptions.
Acknowledging the impact on millions of commuters across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, Duma highlighted the department’s empathy for affected travelers. “Our hearts are with millions of inconvenienced commuters, including holidaymakers eager to experience the hospitality of KwaZulu-Natal, students returning home, and workers reuniting with families.”
The MEC assured the public of the department’s unwavering resolve to emerge from the meeting with solutions to ensure a seamless festive season. He praised the cooperative spirit evident in the ongoing discussions, expressing optimism for the outcomes. “I am particularly encouraged by the prevailing spirit of cooperation on display. I have no doubt that collectively we will inspire hope for a prosperous festive season.”
As holiday travel peaks, the department’s efforts to resolve commuter challenges underline its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the public. The resolution of these matters is expected to enhance connectivity across the province and contribute to the vibrancy of the festive season in KwaZulu-Natal.
