The KwaMashu Taxi Association (KTA) held a successful commemoration event on June 22 in Durban North to pay tribute to the founders of the association. KTA Chairperson, Philani Ngwenya, said that this event was a significant milestone for the association, as it was important to remember the pioneers who established the organization.

“I am grateful that this event was a success. KwaMashu is a proud association with a rich history, and today’s event was a testament to our unity and cooperation. We thank our passengers for their contributions and acknowledge their efforts in shaping our association,” Ngwenya said.

During the event, SB Dladla, a former chairperson of KTA, was honored with a certificate for his dedication and contributions to the association. Dladla spoke about the history of the association, which was established in the 1970s after gaining insight into the taxi industry from Jeffy Moloi of Johannesburg.

“There were no conflicts or disputes in the KwaMashu taxi industry; instead, we worked together to build a strong association. I am thrilled to see this milestone achieved today, as it recognizes the pioneers who paved the way for our success. We thank our current chairperson for organizing this event,” Dladla said. The event concluded with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
