Mobile Clinic Services at Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in Mlazi have been suspended for two weeks due to a hijacking and robbery incident in which a female nurse was attacked.
Mlungisi Ndlovu, the Public Servant Association’s KwaZulu-Natal chairperson, condemned the incident, stating that healthcare workers are being targeted by criminals, leaving them feeling unsafe and vulnerable.
“Healthcare workers are being intimidated and feel unsafe. We need to work together to resolve this matter,” Ndlovu urged.
The Department of Health’s Ntokozo Maphisa confirmed the suspension of mobile clinic services for two weeks, and police are investigating the incident. The community will likely suffer the consequences of this suspension, highlighting the need for swift action to ensure the safety of healthcare workers.
