After 30 years of democracy, South African President Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa thanked the people of South Africa for exercising their right to freedom. This comes after the majority of the country’s citizens turned out in large numbers as the nation held its general elections this year.
Speaking at Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand, Johannesburg, as the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) officially announced the election results, President Ramaphosa praised the IEC for conducting the election process lawfully and accurately, expressing joy that the election was a success as the results reflect the needs of the people.
“At the time of campaigning, political parties expressed diverse opinions. Now, parties must set aside their differences and prioritize the needs of the people by working together. That’s what our people expect from these results,” said Ramaphosa.
