Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) leader Mr. Jacob Zuma has criticized the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) following the announcement of election results at the IEC headquarters in Midrand, Johannesburg.

Zuma expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the election results, particularly highlighting concerns raised by his party and other parties such as the Patriotic Alliance (PA) led by Mr. Gayton McKenzie and Mr. Kenny Kunene, as well as the African Congress for Transformation (ACT) led by Mr. Ace Magashule. They allege irregularities in the voting process.

“We have concerns that need to be addressed; what happened during the election process was unprecedented. In these thirty years of democracy, we, as political parties, have the right to question our grievances to those who enforce the law. The announcement of results should not be disregarded due to the irregularities witnessed during this election. There are people who violate the law, and the IEC’s incompetence that occurred last Friday is evident,” said Zuma.

The former president emphasized that election results must be transparent and fair. He stated that the IEC should not dismiss the concerns raised by all parties involved and should ensure that the election results are verified in a just and transparent manner.

The announcement of election results was expected to be made by the IEC on Sunday, June 2nd.
