A suspect has been killed after his robbery attempt on a vigilant motorist went horribly wrong. This after the victim fought back and stabbed the man at a Pinetown intersection yesterday.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the motorist was stationary at a traffic light in the Pinetown CBD when he was attacked by two unknown men at knife point.

“The motorist got out of his car and fought back and stabbed both attackers.”

“A 26-year-old man sustained multiple stab wounds to the left side of his upper body, he then ran towards the taxi rank where he eventually fell. Police were called to the scene and found him covered in blood, the paramedics certified him dead on the scene,” said Manqele.

He warned motorists to be vigilant when stopping at traffic lights and intersections. A case of murder was opened at Pinetown SAPS for investigation.

No arrests have been made yet.
