A woman, aged 63 years old, was found dead on a section of beach in Munster yesterday afternoon.
Police have not yet released her name.
It’s believed she was found by a visitor to the coast yesterday at 4pm, and that a small dog was sitting next to her body.
Neighbourhood Watch confirmed that the incident had taken place.
According to unconfirmed reports, she was stabbed in the neck, presumably while taking her dog for a walk, and that nothing was stolen.
A long-time Port Edward resident said the murder had taken place at Aunty’s Bay at the end of Lawrence Road.
A businessman in the area hoped Saps would find the person who did this. “We don’t want this story to slip into silence,” he said.
The Munster community, according to a message on social media app WhatsApp, has pledged a reward of R10 000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or people responsible for the murder.
Information can be sent to Detective Kevin Gouws at Port Edward Saps at 039 3115430 (Port Edward 151/02/2019).
